The mountain
Hakuba Norikura Onsen Snow Resort sits in Otari at the north end of the valley, right next to Cortina. Nine chairlifts, no gondola, 14 courses over 50 hectares, from 800 m up to 1,598 m. The longest run is 2,500 m, and the terrain splits roughly a third each beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Beginners get real room. The Family Course averages 5° over 750 m, and the Wakaguri Forest Course is a straight, gentle run between conifers that stays calm when the wind is up. Wakaguri Central is the wide main slope, with a snow park. Small kids get a free, netted kids park right by the slope-side door of the Hakuba Alps Hotel.
The steep terrain is short but real. Sky View is the signature pitch: 500 m long, 250 m wide and up to 38°. The Expert Course hits 35° and opens only when the sign says so. Snake Course is an ungroomed 30° line, the one to aim for after fresh snow. The No. 11 pair lift needs a mountaineering report or the resort's disclaimer first.
Lift ticket
Every ticket here is a joint Norikura and Cortina ticket. For 2026–27 a one-day adult ticket is ¥6,500, a child (6–12) ¥3,800 and a four-hour ticket ¥5,800. Under-sixes ride free with an adult. The Hakuba Valley all-mountain pass works here too. The season runs 12 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, with only the Wakaguri area open from 22 March. Checked 11 Oct 2026 on hakunori.com.
Getting there from the Hakuba villages
The Hakuba Valley shuttle bus stops at Norikura: adult ¥800, child ¥400, and free on days you ski on the Hakuba Valley pass (shuttle timetable). Same north-valley run as Cortina: a planned day, so check the last bus. Drivers get free parking for 1,000 cars at Wakaguri.

Onsen, food and rental
The onsen in the name is Wakaguri, a sodium bicarbonate spring with brown water. Day visitors can use the bath at the Hakuba Alps Hotel (10:00–21:00, adult ¥1,000) or Spa Norikura-so (9:00–19:00, adult ¥700). Rental is inside the Hakuba Alps Hotel, next to the locker room.
